No sure what brought on this change however ever since I upgraded my iOS to the latest version I had my friends say that every time I send them a text message that is delivered via iMessage they see my email address instead of my mobile cell phone number. So I thought how do I stop my email address from showing up when I send text iMessage?
I obliviously googled it and found that the top article had some conflicting information where the so called solution involved signing out of your iTunes account which would then in turn actually stop the iMessage functionality – it’s like telling people the the best cure to protecting your computer against viruses is to disconnect the internet connection and not plug any external storage to it or to prevent road accidents by dropping speed limit to 10 mph; you get my point.
So how do you add or remove your email address from your outgoing iMessage conversations? It’s simpler than you think.
- Tap on Settings on your iPhone
- Then tap on Messages
- Make sure that iMessage is turned on and then tap on Send & Receive
- Tap on your email address to either add or remove your email address from showing up when sending iMessage
